Short Artist Statement

Michael is a painter whoes work explores the pyschodynamics of his experiences. Once expressed in the secrecy of night, images of hedonism are hard to recall in the sun. Michael works unrehearsed, as a tool to gain access to his forgotten imagery, histories and the conditions in which they now sit. Less concerned with creating a cohesive body of painting/ set of rules. Michael seeks to expand this world through visualising narrative on canvas- like those who seek narratives from the surface of disrupted water.

A balance of abstraction and form, which all can be wiped away with white spirit.

"There is a river whose waters give immortality; somewhere there must be another river whose waters take it away. The number of rivers is not infinite; an immortal traveller wandering the world will someday have drunk from them all."
Immortal - Borges
